Historic House Colors
Completed Projects - Texas Bungalow |
Side Gables Bungalow in Houston, Texas
The owners of this lovely Arts & Crafts era bungalow's wanted to "maximize the curb appeal."
They noted the street was very shady and the home had originally been a dark “depressing” brown. The clients wanted light
colors that were “organic”while bright, but not garish.
A secondary issue on the home was the already painted bricks and because of its rustic nature they were too expensive to clean so
finding a proper brick color was paramount. We choose colors colors that were appropriate for a modern family.

The color palette chosen was historic greens with a lighter green on the house body, a somewhat darker green in the gable and a period dark green on the window sash. The house was trimmed in a period off-white and a soft yellow was used to accent and highlight. The color placement was kept simple to keep down the painter costs.
Rear Elevation
The rear of the house was kept very simple with one color on the body and the contrasting highlight being the pergola on the deck.
