Historic House Colors
Completed Projects - Atlanta Mediterranean |
This stunning Spanish Colonial is located in the Morningside neighborhood of Atlanta. Built in 1929 the owner wanted something new, but in
colors and placement that were appropriate to the historic nature of the architecture as well as the neighborhood. After experimenting with various combinations on his own, one including a blue trim, .."I threw up my hands and contacted you, ... I want, Serious, elegant, stately and important.. More importantly I want to avoid serious and expensive mistakes!"

Going with a lighter and brighter body color, a period muslin, allowed the trim to be painted in a medium tone.
This set the stage for employing dark colors on the window sashes and brackets. The goal was to present a clean
facade that allowed the architectural details to shine without using bright colors.
Side facade detail - the clay tile roof was a perfect color allowing one lighter and one darker color to be employed
on the numerous details such as those above this window and at the eaves. The ironwork was given a coat of
dark red paint in keeping with the 1920s style. In the end the owner declared " The colors are a total success, every
goal achieved, thanks so much!"
